Fun Farm Updates!! Babies & More

Life sure does go by fast!  Our Lhasa babies are 5 weeks old already....4 have homes eagerly awaiting to add them to their families!

All our Llamas & Alpacas were shorn recently!  What a fun couple days that was but the shearer was incredible and VERY good with our herds.  I highly recommend him:  Bruce MacLean of Highland Shearing
We had a few lovely Llama crias born, this is Brooks, our Bolivian import, and her cria named Betty.

Then we had our FIRST Alpaca cria born!!  Her name is "Mia"

Another new addition is our Donkey named Jack.  What a fun guy he is!!
The Danes are enjoying the sunshine and LOOK AT Hotchner!  He is really turning out to be very handsome and getting around!  Isn't he incredible?  Hard to believe this guy was paralyzed when we picked him up and brought him home.

We've had 3 new foals born.  Our Spotted draft colt we've named Tanner (pictured here) and two fillies: one draft cross and one Arabian.
Photos coming soon of the fillies!
Here's Magic the day we drove her back to her co-owner to enjoy the summer yummy grasses she has in her pastures!

Mr Sweet Hotchner's Update!

Matthew and Mr Hotchner are becoming buddies!!   Mr Hotchner has improved beyond our hopes for him.  He is now trying to run: though it looks like a mix between a wobbler & a rabbit, he sure does try hard to keep up with the others!  Doc says not to let him do too much but he is getting to a point, he wants to play.  He is really developing his personality, becoming a puppy!  He is gaining control over his feet, he always wags his tail, he can get up and lay down (not always graceful!  but very well improved since we brought him home unable to move or get up)

Hotchner and Jack love to play!
VERY photogenic!!
Hotchner seems to know when the camera is on and poses!  He is working extremely well on his housebreaking too.  I am very happy for him.  He has surpassed anything we ever expected.  He is growing, eating well and keeping his head up more.  His eye control is nearly normal and his pasterns are starting to come up!!  All his care is paying off but he has a will to live, run and play!

ISN'T HE GORGEOUS!!  Check out his silky smooth coat!
PLAY TIME!!!

Louie and Mr Hotchner after a long play time!!

Hotchner is really improving, he's getting a beautiful sleek coat, his ear has healed, his bed sores are nearly gone with new hair grown in.  He  is doing super!   In a few more months, I have hopes to see MORE improvements!  Maybe even running with the big boys  :-)

Strike a pose!

 Hotchner loves his blankies.
Hotchner gets along with everyone, here he is resting with Whisper.

Here he is, Mr sweet Hotchner with Whisper, greeting me at the front gate!  STANDING UP!  Tail a-waggin'   :-)

MR SWEET HOTCHNER our new Foster Great Dane baby!

Here he is the day we picked him up and set out on the long drive home!   He never moved, just lay there and quietly rode on the back seat with his cozy comforter.
Hotchner totally relaxed on the ride to his new home with us.

Now before we go any further... on the way over... check out the snow in the mountains....
AND I SAW WILD ELK!!!!!  Too cool!!

Back to Mr Hotchner's story!  It's a pretty long story but I will do a really brief summary....
We were contacted by a close friend of ours about this boy.  He became paralyzed for unknown reasons as a pup (about 9 weeks old) and was going to be euthanized.   A vet examined him and said with the right care, he might recover but there was nothing known to be causing the paralysis: xrays showed nothing at all.....
Day ONE - Hotchner's here!
His current owners felt it was best to put him into a shed 'for his own safety' (unfortunately he was alone) when he became 'disabled' and was there for about a month until we came to get him.   It's unknown what happened to his ear before we got there but it's healing great with ointment we are putting on it.  He is only 31.1 lbs and is 3 1/2 months old.
Day 4 -  he loves people!
He also has a pressure sore on his hip from not being rotated BUT! he is getting around here!  He is like a drunken sailor but he is getting up on his own and going places.  My vet was scheduled to see him Friday morning since we returned home Thursday night & scheduled his appointment before we left on the 2 day trip to get him.  He was sure right when he told me he would be a tough one to keep down once he started going.
Here's two videos of him walking.  As you can see, he can walk, but he's quite wobbly.

Yes, he is fitting right in like he's at home, he has his bed in my room for night time and spends the day in the TV room to be with us & the other dogs.  He does NOT want to be alone.
Hotch and Puppy - enjoying a raw bone.
I thought after being left in the shed, he'd not want to be around people, but he thinks us humans are totally cool and just *has* to be by us all the time.

The ear is healing nicely and he's a real trooper.  I am so thankful he was not euth'ed, that'd have been such a waste of a sweet guy.  The goal, however, is to get him up healthy and walking well as he will be a large boy & must be able to function.
He likes to "talk back" to us now, is doing good on housebreaking....and LOVES his new diet!

It's been 8 days now since we arrived home.  His diagnosis from our vet is Rickets so we are treating him accordingly.  If no improvements, then we'll have to consider other ideas, tests & options.....
Keep your fingers crossed for this special boy!!  He deserves every possible chance!

Updates! Pups and Horses

Our updates are a long time over-due!  On October 7th, we had a gorgeous litter of Lhasas born to Alley girl, sired by our incredible Mr Paris!   All these lovelies have gone to their new forever homes.
First is "Lilly-Pad" now named "Lucy".

Lucy's mum & dad also took her brother into their home.  This is "Lucky", named for his kink in his tail, like his mum Alley, which will bring good fortune to his owners.  He is personality plus!
 Then there is "Gracie Sue"
 And "DiNozzo".
"Hetti" is a very special girl with a unique, quiet personality who went to an incredible home with a friend I grew up with.

And lastly is "Bernard" who is with his 1/2 sister from last year at my Best Friend's house.

Ashley (sight impaired) and Rossi (deaf) are growing like weeds!!!!  They are 7 months old and HUGE!!

We've added a few wonderful new horse additions........a lovely North American Spotted Draft mare named "Magic".
"Spice" a spunky Appaloosa mare!
And "Sunny" mum's playful Arabian gelding!
And of course "Patches" our Belgian x draft mare is looking as beautiful as ever.  She is due to foal in May.
